Zip it! by Phil
Life lessons can burst upon the scene any time and any place. I recently encountered one in a church's men's restroom. I was waiting while a good dad helped his boys wash their hands. While he was working with the youngest, the older brother asked if he could go find his mom. The dad's answer was priceless, "If your pants are zipped and your collar is straight, you're good to go."
It was as if Jesus himself just came out of the stall next to me. That father's instructions almost mirrored the apostle Paul's in Ephesians 6, "Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place," - Ephesians 6:13-14. How true, before we are prepared to effectively face the world, we must wrap ourselves in God truth and Christ's character.
There you have it, the Bible still speaks, even in the bathroom. My new motto - "If your pants are zipped and your collar is straight, you're good to go."
(By the way, that zipper reminder isn't just for kids. Take it from one who knows.)
Zipped and ready,
