Stinky Stuff by Phil

I hope you had a tremendous Christmas and received everything your little heart desires. I'm actually writing this before Christmas, but I'm hoping someone bought me some cologne, or as we call it around our house - stinky stuff. I love to smell good, which has caused a few interesting situations over the years. (FYI, if those cologne dispensers in truck stop bathrooms don't spray when you push the button, don't look directly in the nozzle to see if it is clogged. Ouch.)

I'm also cheap, which makes me pretty easy to shop for. (Hint, hint if any of my family are reading this.) I actually like the cheap stuff because it gives me the opportunity to have a wide variety of odor options at my disposal.  I even have a scent I always wear for concerts that I call my road smell. Each day I smell good, but different.  (That's actually how my teachers described me as a kid - good, but different.)

2 Corinthians 2:16 says we are to be a "pleasing aroma" to God, but that doesn't mean we're going to smell the same everyday.  Just like my cologne options, somedays we worship God by lifting our hearts in a sanctuary and some days we worship by rolling up our sleeves and getting down and dirty in the trenches. They are both worship, they just smell different.

As we move into a new year, may we consciously choose to worship God with our lives each and every day.  Our goal should be to hear God say, "Boy, that kid smells good!"

Aromatically yours,
Phil and Pam
